Privacy policy

Spin & Sprocket("we," "us") is an independent affiliate publication about indoor cycling gear. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit spinandsprocket.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies only to this website.

What we collect

• Analytics data. We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site — pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you arrived. GA4 collects this through cookies and similar technologies and reports it to us in aggregate. We use it to see which guides are useful and where the site needs work, not to identify you personally.
• Contact-form messages. If you send us a message through the contact page, we collect the information you choose to include — typically your name, email address, and the message itself. The form delivers your message to us by email through the Microsoft Graph email service so we can read and reply to it. We use it only to respond to you.
• Affiliate click data. When you click an outbound product link, the destination retailer — for example Amazon — may set its own cookie to attribute a possible purchase to us. That cookie is set and controlled by the retailer under their privacy policy, not ours, and it is how the commissions that fund the site are tracked.
• Server and log data. Like most websites, our hosting platform automatically logs standard technical information such as IP address and request timestamps for security and reliability.

How we use your information

We use the information above to operate and improve Spin & Sprocket: to measure and improve our content, to respond to messages you send us, to earn the affiliate commissions that keep the site free, and to keep the site secure and working. We do not use it to build advertising profiles of you ourselves.

What we never do

We do not sell your personal data. We do not rent or trade it. We do not send marketing email unless you have explicitly asked us to. We share data only with the service providers named here (Google Analytics, our email delivery via Microsoft Graph, our hosting platform) strictly so they can perform their function, and where the law requires disclosure.

Cookies and your choices

Cookies on Spin & Sprocketcome from two sources: our analytics (GA4) and the retailers you click through to. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser add-on. Blocking cookies will not break your ability to read the site; it may affect whether a retailer attributes a purchase to us. Retailer cookies are governed by that retailer's own privacy policy.

Third-party links

Spin & Sprocket links out to manufacturers, retailers, and other sites. Once you leave our site, this policy no longer applies — those sites have their own privacy practices, and we are not responsible for them. Review their policies before sharing information with them.

Children

Spin & Sprocket is intended for a general adult audience of cyclists and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
