Affiliate disclosure

Spin & Sprocket is reader-supported. Here is exactly how the links work, who pays us, and why it never changes what we recommend.

The short version

Spin & Sprocket earns affiliate commissions. When you click one of our outbound links to a retailer and make a purchase, we may receive a commission at no extra cost to you — you pay the same price you would have paid going direct. Those commissions fund the site. They do not decide our picks.

As an Amazon Associate

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Many of our product links point to Amazon and carry an Associates tracking tag. Spin & Sprocket is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon. We also participate in affiliate programs with other retailers and brands, and outbound links to those merchants may likewise be commissioned.

Commissions never determine our picks

This is the part that matters, so we will be blunt about it: the commission has zero influence on what we recommend. Picks come from the published rubric — compiled specs, cost-per-watt and accuracy-per-dollar math, and value — applied identically to every model. A product that pays a higher rate gets no advantage. A product that pays us nothing is eligible to win. And when the honest answer is "skip the flagship and buy the cheaper one," that is what we write. We accept no sponsored placements and no free units. You can see the whole method on our how we review page and the standards on our editorial policy.

How our outbound links work

To keep tracking clean and honest, every affiliate link on Spin & Sprocket routes through our own /go redirect before it reaches the retailer, and each one is marked rel="sponsored nofollow" so search engines and readers alike can see it is a commercial link. Buy CTAs are labeled with a plain affiliate affordance rather than disguised as neutral text. We would rather you always know which links pay us.

About prices

Prices shown on Spin & Sprocket come from the retailer, not from us, and they change — sometimes daily. We pull them from a live pricing layer and, when a current price is not available, we show "Check price"and send you to the retailer for the real number. We never quote a stale price. Always confirm the final price, availability, and terms on the retailer's own page before you buy — that page is the source of truth, not our snapshot.
